The run-around (aka Christmas)

We had a great time this Christmas seeing and spending time with our families. We started our Christmas  celebrating on Friday at my parents house. We had a great lunch and then spent the rest of the day hanging out, watching movies, and baking.

Here's a great shot of my two lovely sisters getting ready to open presents.

On Christmas Eve morning we got up early for a family picture and breakfast with all my dad's side of the family.

One of the presents were these fun little fighting things. I can't remember what they were called, but they looked really fun.

Later that afternoon, we left my parents and went to Jake's parents to have dinner with the Manthe family. Naomi adopted Maya as her new best bud.
Jennifer got out the train for the bigger kids but Naomi was the one whole loved it most. She would have sat there watching it all night if we would have let her. Unfortunately, this play train is almost as loud as a real train so we couldn't stand to leave it on long.

Christmas morning we got up bright and early and opened present before church. By then, Naomi had gotten pretty good at the whole unwrapping thing.

Then it was time for church and a Christmas lunch with Jennifer and Jodi. Naomi got to open her stocking and found lots of good stuff in there. She was dreaming about eating this cookies and cream santa.
She had some rock candy in her stocking that we did let her try. This is her "first taste" face

Later on, Jason and Heidi came over for more presents. Here's the girls in their matching jammies from Nana.

On Monday we drove to Emporia to see my grandparents. By this point in the weekend, Naomi was feeling pretty worn out.

We had bierocks for lunch, my favorite!

Naomi was thrilled to get to spend most of the weekend getting to walk wherever she wanted with the aid of various family members. She is getting pretty good at walking assisted but still leans pretty heavily and doesn't want to let go. She was not at all happy tonight at the idea of cruising along the furniture by herself while I made dinner. I am hoping soon she gets the balance she needs to set out on her own.

  1. Wowza, you had a busy Christmas weekend! Can you believe how much your life has changed since last Christmas? Back then, You hadn't even met Naomi yet, and now she's almost walking and eating candy! We're counting down the days until we get to meet her (well, Bella, Deacon, Caleb and I are. Josh and Kenzie already got to squeeze her!)
