On Tuesday, we had Naomi's birthday party. We had quite a crowd around here of "local family" (if you will). We were so happy everyone got to come and help us celebrate. Here's a picture of the cake. The wilson website categorized it as "easy" though I would more accurately put it in a category called "takes a stinkin' day." Anyway, Jake and I tag teamed on the frosting and ended up getting it done in plenty of time. In hindsight, I'm glad I made the cake. It was a special day and it deserved a special cake.
Before the party, Naomi just sat on the floor in front of her presents. I was keeping a good eye on her. I can just imagine her saying "I'm just looking mom..." (P.S. this is a good picture of Naomi's "crazy hair" it is always sticking straight up like this when she wakes up)
After taco dinner we opened presents. Naomi got too many wonderful presents to mention. You wouldn't believe the amount of new stuff this girl has. My dad and mom got this dress for her, which I LOVE! I can't wait for her to wear it but I'm going to try to save it for her to wear on Easter.
Hannah was SO excited to give her this Little Miss muffin. She talked all night about how she brought Naomi a present and it was a secret so she couldn't tell what it was.
Speaking of Hannah, she was an excellent little helper when Naomi was opening presents. She just did a few tears here and there to help and only when asked. I know that's tough for a kids her size but she did a great job.
Naomi's face looked like this for most of the present opening. I would give anything to know what she was thinking...
Naomi's last present was this kitchen from her Aunt Becky. She loves that she has drawers of her own that she can hide things in now!
Next up was the cake. First, we sang and Naomi showed us that she was one. The rest went something like this...
One tiny taste... hmmm... what IS this stuff?
I've never had anything like it before...
Ya know, I think I like it...
What?! There's more INSIDE? Naah, that's ok,
I'm all done...
Yeah, I don't really care that I haven't tasted the inside. I'm not going to. I think I'll just give the rest to Red.
We really did try to get her to eat more cake. She did end up taking a little bite but she really just wanted down. Maybe all those new toys were calling her name.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Other Notable Birthday Week Moments:
Naomi is always bringing Jake books to read. I think it's hilarious considering Jake has not actually read a book since he was Naomi's age.
Naomi loves to walk around holding her birthday balloons.
Naomi squats while playing the piano. We have no idea why but we think it's darn cute.
One year stats:
length: 30.5 inches (85th percentile)
weight" 21 lbs (45th percentile)
Doc says all looks well and keep feeding her all she will eat.
Yay, I was looking for the birthday party post!
ReplyDelete1) Fantastic job on the cake! It looks wonderful.
2) I love the pics of her reaction to the cake
3) It looks like she got some terrific gifts!
4) I love the squat!! That's not easy to do! Of course, Caleb constantly chews on his toes, so I guess there are just some things that get more difficult with age. :)
Great post!
Such a cute cake Katie!!
