fireworks, ice cream, and watermelon

I was hoping this Independence day would be lots of fun for Naomi. I forgot that her fear of loud noises might get in the way. She did like these poppers a little bit. She threw a few and dumped the rest out but thought it was fun when I helped her step on them.

We tried to get her to hold a sparkler but she was too scared. The look on her face pretty much says it all.

Naomi watched daddy shoot off some fireworks. She clapped for a few of them but she mostly just kept saying "loud" over, and over, and over. I love that she is talking so much but she is kind of starting to sound like a broken record these days...

Here's Jason and Jake at work setting of fireworks. Hannah was totally into all the fireworks. She was really fun to watch.
At my parents house, Naomi got to try homemade ice cream for the first time. I was relieved when she loved it! I've been a little worried about her lately in the area of eating sweets. She is shockingly uninterested when presented with any kind of dessert. She would way rather have fruit! I am unsure how to handle behavior like this as it is completely foreign to me. So was very happy to see her loving on the ice cream.

I've been trying to spend at least a little time outside with Naomi each evening since she loves it so much. On Friday night after she had played for an hour I gave her a big chunk of watermelon at her new little picnic table. I didn't realize what kind of a giant mess it would be. I was glad we were outside so I could just hose everything down.

So tired from playing outside.

  1. Love those cute little red crocs! Does Jake not have a sweet tooth or something? What is wrong with your child?? ;) By the way, thanks for lending your hubby to us a couple of weeks ago!! I know how that sucks when they are gone on the weekend! We appreciated it!
