Can't stop the fun

Squeezing all the fun we have had in this past week into one blog post is a tall order but I will give it my best go. On Tuesday we went to a Royals game with a few of my family members. The kids didn't really appreciate it yet but I am looking forward to the day when they do. For now Naomi appreciates the cotton candy and Leah appreciates... none of it. She was not a fan of the noise and would bust into tears anytime the crowd cheered. I did spend 20 amazing minutes watching the game with my mom while Jake and my dad had the kids getting a snack. The little things... right?

Here's Naomi appreciating an entire bag of cotton candy almost all by hersef. The idea was to share it but by the time we had gotten it and thought to grab a bite it was almost gone. I was a little afraid Naomi would go into a sugar coma.

Wednesday we spent the day with Jake's brother, Josh and his family. The kids played and played in the little pool in the backyard. They picked blueberries, pestered a bird stuck in the window well, and introduced Naomi to The Little Mermaid. Some Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Jelly Beans were passed around but  I politely declined. I prefer my jelly beans in yummy fruity flavors, no earthworm or vomit flavored candy for me. On Thurdsay we said farewell to them. They headed back to the Philippines for the next three years! We miss them already. Next time we see them Naomi will be in Kindergarten! Even the thought makes me a little nauseous.

Friday we went to the Koffman memorial gardens in Kansas City with my sister and parents. They have two looooong rows of my favorite flower, hydrangeas.

Naomi's favorite attraction was the cat they had there. It was very friendly. They had a sign out that said to not feed it because it was too fat and lazy but by the look if it I wouldn't be surprised if that poor cat gave birth to all it's fat in the form of kittens anyday.

Leah had a blast walking around and playing with the plants. Chrissie was nice enough to walk her around for a long time. I'm sure it made her day.

After the gardens we had lunch a Winsteads. It's a favorite in my family. Leah was so happy the not-so-attentive waitress forgot her straw because she loves to drink from a regular cup.

After lunch we ordered a "skyscraper" which it a big shake for the table to share. The waitresses get together and sing a song as they bring it out with bunches of straws and spoons. It was a hit.

Oh wait, back up to Monday. My dad and I met a lady from Craigslist and got a toddler bed for Naomi.  The transition has been a little rough but it's getting better. She likes the idea of a new bed but when it comes time for bed she's scared. I think she feels a little less secure without all those bars around her.

Even with it being a busy week we still found time to watch a little TV. Tangled is Naomi's favorite these days. She loves to quote it at times when you least expect it. Her favorites are "I am the lost princess, aren't I" and "I will never let you use my hair again." Yep. she's a character.
