This week we had to say "goodbye for now" to my grandad. He turned 88 just a few months ago. I have a lot of recent-ish pictures like these of my grandad who loved his chair, loved his westerns, and loved his sugar...
But my favorite are the pictures like this. This is the grandad I remember. One memory I always think about it how they always took us out for our birthday each year. Many years I chose to go to church with them so they would come pick me up on Sunday morning and take me to their church. After church we got to eat out anywhere I picked. I think I often chose Chinese food. And then they gave me 50$ to go buy whatever I wanted! That was the ultimate treat. I think most of the time I wanted to save most of my money (I'm a hoarder like that) but I know I always requested to go by Mr. Bulkey's candy store at Oak Park mall and spend some money there.
This picture is on one of our ski trips that we went on to snow creek learning to ski on the bunny slopes. And I can't forget my first summer job assisting them in the law office. On top of very generous pay for the work I was doing, they took me over to the cafeteria every day for a burger and fries. Yum!
It was also so fun to see pictures of the grandad I never knew. Here he is with my mom as a young dad.
As a groom...
And even as a baby.
When we all get to heaven what a day of rejoicing that will be...
That's a sweet post about your Grandpa! I'm sorry that you have to part with him for a while. I've been thinking about you guys and praying for you. - Val
