Leah is 7

I am excited to finally be getting Leah's birthday post up. Her birthday ended up butting up to our first experience with head lice which, I know, they say is no big deal but it's still hard to fight that panic that left me wanting to shave everyone's head and burn my house down. Now that we are on the other side, though, I'm glad I took the less drastic option. The hair would grow back but I don't know what we would've done without a house!
Anyway, Leah is the sweetest seven year old you ever met. She can almost always be found laying about on the floor with a pile of markers and paper around her. She often makes notes or cards to mail to family or leave around the house to surprise us. This one was in our bed last night.

Leah loves school. It helps that she has a fantastic memory which has helped her be a great reader from the beginning. Also, her teacher is really fun and runs a "flexible seating" classroom with no desks. Her classroom looks more like a living room then a classroom. It's so neat! But most of all, she loves playing at recess with her besties from kindergarten. She has a few friends from her class this year but more then anything she talks about Nellie and Annabelle who were in her class last year and she gets to see at recess.

Leah has been begging for a pet for her birthday. The fish that she got for her last birthday didn't really work out (trust me, you don't even want to know what happened to him). Her first choice this year was a rabbit but we had her ready to settle for a gerbil. Then, at the last minute, we ended up with a guinea pig.

Leah asked for macarons for her birthday cake. They have been dying to try them since watching Grace make them in their favorite American Girl movie. My sister made us a giant delicious cake size pile.

P.S. Look for Leah's birthday pictures in a separate post. I haven't quite had time for those yet.
