To Arkansas we go

Last weekend we took a trip down to Arkansas to see Jake's Aunt Kris and James and Jeff and their wives. Incredibly, it rain every single second we were there but we still managed to have tons of fun. On Friday morning we visited Gospel Light School where Aunt Kris and Brianna teach. The kids had fun in Kris's library with Nana while I snuck to Brianna's classroom to see her class. It was so fun to be there and really reminded me of how much I miss teaching. That is, until someone spilled an entire slushy then I remembered that being in a classroom is so, so much work.

After that we did lunch with Jake and Jody at James's house, nap and then Cici's pizza. At Cici's the girls got used their dollars from Jody for the machines. They were in 7th heaven.

Saturday, Norah joined the fun. We started the day with cartoons...

and then went to Target. Funny how girls of every age love it there.

Aunt Courtney bought the girls some jelly beans for a special treat at Target. On the way home, Naomi told us the target trip and jelly beans were her favorite part of the whole weekend.

That evening we took the kids to Chick-fil-a to run off some energy before dinner at Cracker Barrel. I love how Silas has started joining right in and following the big kids.

Here is his first trip down the slide. He was unsure at first but it grew on him.

Sunday morning we headed for home. Silas was kinda done about halfway through the trip. We turned his seat around to face forward and when that didn't help, I gave him a candy necklace in desperation. It cheered him up for over an hour.

Leah has been wearing these shades around the last couple of days. Jake and I got a good laugh when she put them on at bedtime and Naomi claimed Leah must "need them to see the words, like grandpa."
