Silas hit the 18 month mark this month. I can hardly believe he is so big already! Overall he is the happiest little thing you ever met though he recently is trying his hand at whining and crying to get his way. He still sleeps with a paci and is the best sleeper ever. Though I am in the girls room at least once a night with various needs, I can't even remember the last time I went into his room at night.
We never have to worry about Silas not getting enough to eat. He will eat a whole can of green beans or carrots if you let him. And also loves to eat most anything. The only thing I can think of right now that he doesn't like is blueberries. Crazy kid. He loves to run and play and try to keep up with his sisters. We have stools all over and if he wants something on the counter he will just get himself a stool and climb on up to get it. Luckily he hasn't shown any interest in getting out of his crib yet so I'm not too worried
He is supposed to be talking by now but for some reason he says almost nothing. The only word he has is "ma" which can be loosely translated into more, mom, milk, or pretty much anything else that he is trying to communicate. The doctor had us do some extensive hearing and developmental test to make sure nothing was wrong but they didn't find anything to worry about. Most people tend to think he has a case of my-sisters-talk-so-much-I-can't-get-a-word-in and it will clear up in time. In the mean time the doctor has us hooked up with a speech teacher from county services that comes and works with him once a week. She pretty much just sits on the floor with us and tries to get him to make sounds but this shy guy never makes one peep when she is here. That doesn't seem to deter her one bit though and she keeps telling me he is making progress and his words will be coming anytime so we will just keep waiting I guess.
One other thing you might be interested in knowing about Silas is he won't be our baby much longer. In November we are adding another little girl to the team. I was really (really, really, really) hoping for Silas to get a brother but it looks like that won't be happening. I'm still working on getting over that but I know sisters have a lot of love too and I'm so happy he will have an abundance of them.

Silas is the cutest little guy! And I bet he'll be talking in no time.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't forget about the 5% chance with that bottom picture... :)
I have a feeling that Silas and Bronson will be best buds. They have the same sweet personality (at least I picture Bronson being sweet) and I love Silas' smile.
